Tipi Festival Wedding

Ross and Sophie had the most dreamy boho wedding at Sophie’s family farm in Surrey; I mean seriously, check out that dress, it’s sensational. The set-up was rustic yet glam, with lots of creative decor all styled by the bride and her mum, who also dressed the tipi and field. We loved the ribbons and flowers especially! This wedding was very much a family affair with everyone involved – their even had their two daughters as flower girls, wearing pink tutus, the photos are super cute.

We loved being part of their wedding; we arrived Friday to set up glamping for guests, a chill-out tipi for both kids and pooches to hang out in, and a beautiful bridal tent for the couple. The South Cotswolds is a beautiful place to escape and explore; here are a few of our favourite things:

Minchinhampton Common: 

A vast expanse of green, green common land that’s managed by The National Trust and home to all sorts of wildlife. Not only does it have the most amazing view across both valleys either side, it also has three pubs and an ice cream factory, Winstones. Oh, and the best thing about the common is the hundreds of curious cows that graze the land over the summer; they roam freely around the village of Minchinhampton, on the grass, in the road, on driveways, it’s very entertaining!

Stroud Farmers Market: 

A bustling market held every Saturday on the cobbled streets of Stroud; it draws locals and visitors from all over, with an impressive and varied range of stalls where you are spoilt for choice with food vendors selling local fresh meat, veg or artisan makers selling chutneys, wine and cheese.

Malt House Emporium: 

It’s very easy to lose an afternoon in this exquisite emporium of vintage, collectables, antiques, and pre-loved items. A two storey Victorian building, with over 100 dealers and many unique pieces, it’s the perfect place to explore. They have recently renovated the space next door and opened up a cafe. The building itself is seriously impressive, floor to ceiling windows, exposed brick walls and interior piping, but most importantly they have great coffee. When we take our friends here, they always fail to come home empty handed!

Ash-down Airfield: 

For the more adventurous, why not try gliding? Beginner day courses are available at the airfield to give you a taster at flying. We think the views are incredible!

Painswick Rococo Gardens:

This garden was created to be the backdrop for decadent parties where the owner would entertain his guests at fanciful buildings, inside the maze and through the woodland. Today, it provides a magical setting for outdoor theatre performances and has a series of summer events, as well as being open for general garden tours.


Idyllic and quaint village that seems to be a hub for artists, writers and creatives alike; with the most famous resident being Damien Hirst. I would recommend taking a walk along the Cotswold waterways, a disused canal with a much used tow-path, it takes you on a journey of local history which is deeply routed in the textile industry, revealing former mills and factories to passers by. There’s something very calming and tranquil about this place that clearly inspires creativity.

Food and Drink:

The Bell, Sapperton: Award winning, superb food.

Lavender Bakehouse, Chalford: Delicious breakfast spot.

Jolly Nice, Frampton Mansell: Old petrol station that has been converted into a farm shop, cafe and deli.

Asparagasm, Nailsworth: Vegan fine dining with great guest chefs and themed evenings

Ragged Cot and The Shed: The former does a great sunday roast with the latter specialising in light lunches and cakes, both next door to one another.

Winstones: Ice cream parlour, all made in the factory in Minchinhampton

Further afield:

Bath: Home to the roman spa, the bath bun and famous Georgian architecture. Only a short drive away.

Sudeley Castle: Tudor castle, mentioned in the novel Wolf Hall.

Bibury: Quintessentially picturesque Cotswold village.

Cotswold Glamping Wedding

We had the best start to the season setting up our bell tents for an awesome couple at Wildwood Bluebells in Moreton-on-Marsh. Gary and Lucy had a fun festival style wedding weekend in one of the most magical countryside venues I have ever visited. I mean, the ceremony was held in the woods, amongst a carpet of bluebells, under a wicker heart and all guests had to walk through a wardrobe of coats to enter the woods, how fun and romantic!

Wildwood Bluebells is run by owner Georgie and is full of character, the beauty of having a wedding here is that you hire the entire site and therefore have exclusivity for the weekend. There’s already glamping available to sleep 30, together with a hot-tub, bathrooms, showers and hobbit hut with communal eating area. We set up an extra 18 tents, fully furnished for guests that wanted to glamp and stay on site over the weekend.

Gary and Lucy together with their friends dressed the decorated the venue beautifully, we also set up a chill-out tipi which they filled with fun fancy dress for guests to dress up, the wedding had such a personal feel and we loved creating a wonderful bell tent village for everyone. The bride and groom loved it so much, after the wedding, they bought themselves a bell tent to use for the summer and continue glamping together in their first year of marriage. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of this awesome wedding!

Glamping at The Vintage Nostalgia Show 2016


As we settle into 2016 I’m already daydreaming about the summer festival season, this year we have teamed up with the lovely chaps at The Vintage Nostalgia Show to provide the boutique glamping for those looking for a cosy, comfortable camping experience.

Now in it’s 5th year, Vintage Nostalgia Show promises to be another fun-filled family weekend where festival goers can celebrate the past in the beautiful surroundings of Stockton Park. The event will be filled with music, dancing, classic cars and lots of people who want to celebrate all things vintage. Why not make the most of the weekend by checking a pre-pitched, styled and furnished canvas room at lulubells pop-up hotel.

Our boutique camping area will be set up separately to the general camping and will include a reception area where you can hang-up your fancy dress outfits securely on the rail provided, charge your phones and hang out on our comfy chairs should you wish!

We have two different packages available The Basic Bunker which includes a pre-picthed canvas tent and all the essentials for your stay, or alternatively you can book one The Vintage Vogue which includes warm luxury bedding, toiletries and towels.

To coincide with the last of the early bird tickets, we are running a super-duper competition for all glampers. Campfire Recipes – Glamping Pies!

Here at Lulubells HQ we thought we’d share our favourite campfire recipes with you lovely people, throughout the winter months we will be revealing our best camping dishes, which means by the time summer hits you will be full of inspiration and hopefully an entire repertoire of go-to yummy foods!

We really do love a good hearty pie and those cleaver chaps at Pieminister have only gone and done it again. First it was the moo blue, the best pie – fact! and now this, a delicious, super easy, one pot, pie in a mug! Oh and not just any mug, it has to be enamel for the traditional camping experience.

The filling can be made at the glampsite but the lids will need to be prepped at home, no doubt your fellow glampers will be suitably impressed when you rock up with pre-baked pastry lids they can just pop on top to finish the glamping pie.

This delicious campfire supper will warm you up on a cold night and keep you going until breakfast. We tried the recipe today and it was sooo tasty we thought we better had share with you…. Enjoy!

This recipe uses quick-cook sausage and beans, but you can use any filling you like…

Serves 6

6 enamel camping cups
150g puff pastry
1 free-range egg, lightly beaten, to glaze
2 tbsp olive oil
6 good quality herby pork sausages
1 red onion, finely chopped
400g can of plum tomatoes
400g can of cannellini beans, drained
a small bunch of sage, finely chopped
3 tbsp double cream or crème fraîche
3 tabs freshly grated parmesan cheese
sea salt and black pepper

First make your pie lids. This can be done at home up to two days before. Preheat the oven to 200°C/gas mark 6. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 5mm thick. Cut out 6 circles with a sharp knife, using an upside-down enamel cup as a template and re-rolling the pastry trimmings if necessary. Don’t worry about the pastry being a little bigger than the inside of your cup as it will shrink when it is cooked.

Place the rounds on the baking tray and brush with beaten egg. Transfer to the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, until the rounds are golden brown and have risen. Allow to cool and then place in a Tupperware container or even one of your enamel cups, covered in clingfilm.

For the filling, which can be made either at home or at the campsite, first heat the oil in a pan. Slit the skins of the sausages and peel them off. Crumble the meat into the oil and fry gently until lightly browned. Add the onion and the garlic and cook until soft and translucent. Then add the tomatoes and drained beans and cook gently, covered, for about 15 minutes. Add the sage and cook for a further 5 minutes until you have a thick sauce. Season to taste.

If you’re preparing the filling at home, take it off the heat and allow it to cool – the remaining ingredients will need to be added when you reheat the sauce at the campsite.

Once the filling is cooked (or reheated), add the cream and Parmesan and stir well. To serve, spoon the mixture into the cups, place the pre-baked lids on top and present to your jealous fellow glampers.


Bell Tent Wedding

We simply had to share with you a few snaps from one of the most gorgeous glamping weddings from our busy summer season renting bell tents. Sam and Jess are big-time outdoor enthusiasts, so much so they requested that all guests camp at the venue to extend celebrations over the weekend. Bride and Groom naturally wanted something a little more luxurious for their wedding night, so we were lucky enough to create a gorgeous bridal bell tent for these beauties to stay in, seriously dreamy! We also set up a pop-up village for guests who wanted to rock-up dressed-to-impress ready to party without having the hassle of pitching a tent. These guys got to sleep-under-the-stars in pure comfort with luxury campbeds, cosy bedding, blankets, lanterns and of course some bunting!

Wick Bottom Barn is a truly magical setting, we positioned each bell tent slightly into the woodland at the edge of the lawn, a couple of our bells managed to sneak into the professional shots from the day 🙂 They look pretty good huh?

To continue with the outdoor / camping theme Jess arrived to the ceremony in her friends bright orange VW campervan – I mean how cool is that?!

We loved setting up this bell tent village, weddings are the best fun and by the look of the guests the following morning, these guys sure know how to throw a party!
